Microtones:
This refers to taking intervals which could be very little, i.e. smaller than
half a step. The Western modernized flute is an exception as almost every flute
around the world has been designed using instruments that are non-tempered
along with microtonal intervals which help
in tuning and clear sound playing. The best elegant example ofthe microtonal
technique is transverse flute from India or bansuri.
·
Whistle
Tones: This technique is produced when the flute is blown with slow air. There are many instruments, which are
made wherein very soft and notes with high-pitch are created. The example for
whistle tones technique is a ceremonial
flute.
